RP-plan against horror congestion
Cologne --
In the discussion about the crossing of the north-south subway with Rheinuferstraße is moving: Governor Hans Peter Lindlar (CDU), turns on and is clearly in the "only rational solution": The extension of the railway tunnel under the River Rhine Street ago.
The plan has been that the route branches off below ground level Alteburger Wall towards the Rhine and in parallel to the embankment of the south bridge before Rheinuferstraße comes to the surface to cross the Rhine river road. Necessarily a barrier would be required. The result: traffic jams on the river Rhine Street.
"No one can want," says the RP. "Even if one is expanding the road from two to three lanes, as already discussed - then the jam shorter but wider." From a car tunnel under the railway track ago Lindlar also owns little.
"For me, comes into question only the extension of the tunnel," said the RP compared EXPRESS. Baudezernent Bernd Streitberger (CDU), predicted that delayed the commissioning of the new subway caused by the accident at Waidmarkt at least four years. "The delay we can use to change the planning procedures in place," said the RP. "We now have a minimal time frame to go through that and build a different way than previously planned."
The Council had asked the administration to consider all the possibilities - the KVB had already stated that the extension is not in their view of the tunnel is feasible. The Greens do not want any change in plans.
But OB Juergen Roters (SPD) favors the extension of the tunnel. Lindlar confirmed to EXPRESS talks with the OB. The third in a bunch is Streitberger. "For the extension of the tunnel is the best solution." Lindlar, together with the OB and Streitberger of Transport in Dusseldorf promote the solution. "I see opportunities to obtain financial support from the country. With well over one billion euro cost of these additional costs are justifiable. And this construction project would be the least intrusive. "
